Meet The Teacher

Coach Gibby

Coach Gibby graduated college from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in News Media and a minor in Spanish. He then attended Southern Arkansas University where he received his Master's degree in Education.

He has been in education for six years and currently teaches Media Communications, Graphic Design (Levels 1, 2, and 3), Design Lab. Also coaches Cross Country and Track. In previous years, he taught Digital Cinema, Yearbook, Spanish, and ESOL.

Before he got into teaching, he worked for BYUTV as a news anchor, reporter, and sports production assistant. Some of his work was featured on ESPN and CBS Sports. He's also done various podcasts and been featured on Youtube channels.

When asking Coach Gibby what he loves about his pathway he said, " graphic design is an excellent pathway for anyone because whether a student decides to pursue a career in graphic design or not, the skills learned in the pathway can have a lifelong impact. Whether it’s learning to take professional level photos, editing family pictures, or making a party invitation, the skills learned in this pathway allow participants to be able to use their learned skills for the rest of their lives. It also teaches students how to promote and advertise themselves through design through social media, personal portfolios, and resumes."

Fun facts: He speaks Spanish and a bit of Mayan. He's lived in four states and Mexico. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He has been bitten by a shark! He is married to his wife, Annekke, and has two daughters, Ximena and Jane.

Brey Cook

Brey Cook brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field to the classroom. An All-American highschool athlete, Cook played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks, earning All-SEC honors during his career. Following his time as a Razorback, Cook signed his first NFL contract with the Washington Redskins. He remained involved in the sport, Coaching at the University of Arkansas, University of Memphis, Southwest Baptist University and as Head Coach for the Pea Ridge Blackhawks

Cook is also the host of "Coaches and the Mouth," a popular podcast where he interviews prominent sports figures and dives into the behind-the-scenes stories of the game. With a strong background in digital media, including video production and storytelling, he inspires his students to explore their creativity and develop professional-quality content.

As a Design and Media teacher, Cook combines his expertise in sports, media, and education to teach students how to think critically, work collaboratively, and excel in the fast-paced world of digital communication.
