Pea Ridge 5th and 6th grade gifted and talented students were full of questions for both Mayor See and a couple of Zipline employees as they got the opportunity to learn from and interact with each of these Pea Ridge leaders.
On the morning of October 15th, students traveled to City Hall where the mayor talked them through election processes, how campaigns are developed, how to use a map to understand the different wards in Pea Ridge, as well as showing them the city’s brand new logo and discussing the process and development of getting to the finalized product. Students were very engaged and asked excellent questions to help them fully understand each concept. City Clerk Office Manager Sandy Button explained to students how all street names in Pea Ridge (unless named before annexed by the city) are all names of soldiers who fought in The Battle of Pea Ridge.
Students were then taken back to the middle school where Zipline employees gave a very engaging and interactive presentation about how the drones function and are operated, what countries they are currently working in, as well as the future for Zipline. Students were quizzed along the way and were privy to a first-hand look at the newest drone that will soon deliver even more goods to everyone’s front doorsteps. Students ended the day by creating a logo for their middle school gifted and talented program and voting democratically for the winner! Overall, it was a great day full of new learning experiences.
The 3rd and 4th grade GT students got to have the same experiences on Thursday, October 17th.
